WIP Wednesday – Hexagons aplenty
For other WIP Wednesday posts, be sure to stop by Tami’s Amis for links!
I’m continuing along with my hexagon baby blanket this week. (I previously posted about it here, here, and here.) There’s not much more since my last post because, to quote Calophi’s blog, I had to “rip it good!”
In an uncharacteristic move, when I wrote up my pattern for the hexagons, I didn’t write down which hook I was using. Last week when I picked up the blocks again after a month, I just threw the yarn and a hook into my backpack. By the end of the day, I had 4 hexagons. But, when I took them home, they were 4 totally different size hexagons from the rest. I actually liked the new (smaller) size better, so I ripped out all of the previous hexagons and remade them.
I have 5 (of 10) color A, 9 (of 9) color B, and 3 (of 9) color C hexagons completed. I joined the first row already (you can see the white border outlines in the picture).
How are your WIPs going this week?

Beautiful. Keep it going, can’t wait to see the FO! It’s going to be spectular.
@ RugbyMad – Thanks! I’m looking forward to finishing up but I still need to buy one more skein of yarn in color A.
I am knitting something and want to write up the pattern. I took notes but didn’t put down needle size or yarn I am using. I didn’t realize that until I read your post. looking forward to seeing how the project goes.
@ Daphne: Thanks for stopping by. I usually write down the details in my notes (even down to the brand of hooks or needles, as well as the size, since there are those subtle differences in sizes between brands!) but for some reason, I didn’t this time. It worked out for the best though, since I can get all of the hexagons I need out of two skeins of each color now, whereas before I would have needed a third skein.
Sorry you had to do some frogging/ripping, but if the new size works out better then it’s probably for the best, especially if you need less yarn!
@ Nat: So true. It was worth the effort to spare myself the agony of the tiny remnants of yarn that I would be dealing with in three colors if I kept the larger size!
I think it’s awesome that you went ahead and ripped out the old ones since you liked the new size better. I think I probably would’ve ripped out the smallest stack possible.
@ CrochetBlogger: Nope, I took the difficult route and ripped out the larger stack, including disconnecting the hexagons that were already joined!
The blanket is going to be amazing! I can’t wait to see it all put together.
@ Tami: Thanks! I am hoping to get it done soon, but I have a few other things in the works so it may sit on the side for a while
.
Looking good so far. Accidents do happen for the better at times. This is going to be one gorgeous blanket!
@ Asha: Thanks for stopping by and for your compliment!
Oh, no! Not ripping!
It’s looking beautiful, so I’m glad you’re back on track!
@ Stacy: It was actually quite soothing
.
I hate ripping things out, but I’m getting a lot of practice just now. Can’t wait to see the blanket finished!
@ Liz: I’m hoping to get a lot done this weekend. Thanks for visiting.
