I’ve always loved the look of Irish crochet. Here’s an Irish rose choker I crocheted back in 2012.
For this granny square, I wanted to combine elements of the classic Irish rose, but I took my inspiration from the mayapple flower, which has six petals.
This square has a delicate beauty that makes it perfect for a daybed cover or a throw at the end of the bed in a guest room. (Though I love making baby blankets, I wouldn’t recommend this square for that since it will probably not be happy about all the wear and tear.)

Thanks so much, Darlene! I had a lot of fun with this one.
Where is the pattern for your lovely choker?
I already have the Mayapple Square – it is lovely. I’ve used in in afghan – mixed with other ‘floral’ and textured squares….I really like it!
But I’d love to see a pattern for that choker….intriguing! Can we see better pictures/pattern? Always looking for something new…and different!
Thank you for all that you share…inspiring!
Thanks so much< Carol! I haven't written up a pattern for the choker, but you can reader more about it here: http://undergroundcrafter.com/2012/02/10/fo-friday-irish-rose-choker/
I’ve been getting more and more into different kinds of granny squares lately. This one is definitely lovely!
Thanks for the kind words, Daintynymph!
Beautiful square! I don’t know that I have the patience to make a whole afghan (my last one took like three years), but I smell a pillow in my future! Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks so much for the kind words, Alex! I also have a love/hate relationship with afghans :).
Congratulations, Marie! I saw this beautiful square of yours is featured in Hookin’ on Hump Day at Petals to Picots!!!! It really is so very pretty!!! Perfect to be included in their 100th one!!!
