Last week, I had the opportunity to attend a Viva® Vantage® live event in Brooklyn, my native borough, hosted by Amy from Selfish Mom and the Parenting Bytes podcast.

Viva® Vantage® is encouraging people to try its 7-Day Switch Up. We all get stuck in our routines from time to time, and this challenge is to inspire new entertaining, cleaning, or kitchen switches using Viva® Vantage®.

Amy was a great hostess and her home is beautiful! She shared some of her kitchen switches with us. Two of my favorites were:

  • Use a damp paper towel to scrub mushrooms. Confession time: I am not a mushroom fan, so I was unaware that submersing them in water was not the best way to clean them. (MC does love mushrooms, so now I have a better way to prep them when we’re cooking together.)

Hmmm, judging by the gunk on that paper towel, I guess you really do need to scrub mushrooms.
  • Rinse your fresh strawberries when you get home (picking through to remove any spoiled or squishy ones) and then add a paper towel to the bottom of your storage container to soak up excess moisture and keep them fresh longer. This switch will definitely come in handy now that we buy our strawberries at the farmers market instead of frozen.

Amy also had some great decorating switches, like using wooden spoons as a centerpiece.

Both switches work great with Viva® Vantage® because of their stretchy-strength. You can get these towels wet, go to town scrubbing, and still have a solid towel to work with. These don’t leave lint everywhere, so I can use Viva® Vantage® on food as well as on windows and sticky stains. And, with the Choose-A-Sheet towels, there’s no need to waste. I can tear off just the right amount that I need for the task.

I will say that MC was concerned about me going to an event encouraging a switch in paper towel habits. You see, he is the paper towel decision maker in our household, and, if I may say so, he is quite persnickety about this role. (Once he learned the event was for Viva® Vantage®, he stopped worrying — he already favors Viva® Brand.)

This weekend, I decided to do some further Viva® Vantage® experimentation. I love baking, especially at this time of the year as we gear up for the winter holidays. I went on a mission to reorganize our stored baking supplies. My initial plan was just to use the towels for some gentle wiping but I discovered that the storage container hadn’t been properly closed so everything needed a full wash.

I was able to wash several sink loads and use the same towels because of their sponge-like absorbency and quick drying V-Flex™ weave.
