#Crochet #TipsTuesday: How to crochet front and back post double crochet stitches

I’ve been teaching crochet since 2008, and one set of stitches I often see students struggle with are front and back post stitches. Front and back double crochet stitches (abbreviated as FPdc and BPdc in the U.S.) are part of many classic stitch combinations, such as basketweave and cables. I’m sharing a video tutorial to help you get started with post stitches.

Post stitches are great for adding texture and can be used to make beautiful basketweave stitches, stretchy ribbing, and stunning cables. Making post stitches for the first time can be a bit daunting, but in this video tutorial, I’ll show you how to work front and back post double crochet stitches.

If you’re looking for patterns to try these stitches out on, here are a few of my free crochet patterns using post stitches.

  1. Love your tutorials, you take your time and turn the work so you can see what’s being done. I’ve been trying to learn crochet for over 30 years, and am succeeding. Also want to learn how to knit and Tunisian crochet. Will be looking forward to your other tutorials. I also quilt, embroyder, sew, paint, bake, etc. Love homemaking!
