Scarf of the Month Club with Oombawka Design and The Stitchin' MommyLast month, I had the chance to attend the Snap! conference for craft, DIY, food, and other creative bloggers in Salt Lake City, Utah. One of the fun features of this event is that you can get assigned a “secret sister” to share three gifts with. My secret sister was Jessica from Mad in Crafts, and she mentioned that she liked purple and red. And scarves.

CraftsyI happened to have this redish purple yarn in my stash, just waiting for the perfect project to come along.

A lacy shell edging is added at the end, making it a lovely gift for someone special. My mom brought this yarn back for me from a trip to Europe a few years ago. It’s a super soft, washable, Merino wool yarn called Filtes King Extra.

I dug through my stitch pattern books, looking for something perfect to highlight the texture. But, I couldn’t choose just one stitch for this yarn, so I decided to do something a little different.

And then I added this lacy shell border. I makes a great gift. And, my secret sister really liked it!

If you’d like to make a more unisex version, you can just continue the herringbone stitch pattern (Row 2) until the scarf is the perfect size.

I know the lacy shells might be challenging for some crocheters, so I’ve included a complete video tutorial at the end of the pattern.

  1. I really don’t want my scarf that long. What are the required number of stitches for the pattern please.
