Crochet Pattern: Tina’s Day-to-Night Shawl

I’m so excited to share this easy-to-make shawl pattern with you! I used an eco-friendly tencel yarn to crochet this large shawl that transitions seamlessly from day-to-night with you. It’s perfect for wearing to work, with jeans, or when dressed up for a night out. And, the tencel creates excellent drape so you’ll love to wrap yourself up in Tina’s Day-to-Night Shawl. (Also, if you’re seeing this before July 12, 2017, you’ll have a chance to win enough yarn to make it yourself, so read on for details!)

When Wool and the Gang contacted me to see if I would be interested in trying out their new Tina Tape yarn, I said yes (of course! who doesn’t like yarn, right?). One of the things that intrigued me about Tina Tape was that it was so eco-friendly.

Since Tina Tape is made from sustainably-sourced eucalyptus trees (definitely my first eucalyptus Tencel® yarn!), it’s 100% vegan, which is great for gifts to vegan friends. It’s also made using renewable energy, without harmful chemicals, and in a process that saves water and energy, so it’s great for the planet (and has a great story to go with it!).

Now, all of that is wonderful, but what is the yarn like? Well, Tina Tape is incredibly soft and extremely breathable. As an example, I happened to make most of this shawl while attending an outdoor graduation in a black cap and gown in warm weather and under strong sunlight. (Did you think I could sit through a multi-hour ceremony without hook in hand?) It was a complete pleasure to work with and didn’t make my hands sweat. I’ll admit that when I first saw the skeins, I was a bit nervous. They seemed so small! But since the yarn is so soft, squishy, and lightweight, you can actually get a lot of project out of a small skein.

The drape is fabulous, as with all Tencel® yarns, so it’s wonderful to wrap yourself up in. I used a larger hook to further enhance the drape.

  1. Quetzal Green, which on my monitor is a fabulous shade of blue? Don’t care what it’s called, I love it. KittenWhiplash on ravelry says “Thank You for another wonderful giveaway, and for all your crafty undergroundness … or undergroundy craftness or .. just thanks for everything.”

  3. I love the peach color. However, if I win I’d like to use it for something for my sister, and she’d rock the eucalyptus green with an accent in the fern colorway.

  4. Oh wow what a beautiful array of colors to choose from! It was hard to pick one favorite but I narrowed it down to two…my first being eucalyptus green and second dusty blue. Black is always my all time favorite but I decided to actually pick color this time.

  9. It was a hard decision to choose just one favorite since I love both the Perfect Peach and the Coral Crush, but I think the Perfect Peach would be better for this scarf. They’re all lovely, though.
