Crochet Pattern: Mock Bobbles Beret in 3 Sizes

The Mock Bobbles Beret updates a classic style with a pop of texture. This pattern uses a combination of tall and short stitches to create the look of bobbles in an easier way. I used a neutral color for my version but you could completely change the look with a vibrant or pastel yarn. Best of all, this hat is available in three sizes — infant, child, and adult — so you can make a matching family set.

Last year, I made the Mock Bobbles Cowl. I had a lot of fun playing with mock bobbles (which, in my variation, are a combination of triple and single crochet) and I knew I wanted to make a hat using the same stitch pattern. But what shape or style of hat? My maternal grandmother used to crochet berets, and as a child, I had one in an off-white color. When I got this yarn, all of the ideas came together and I started working on this beret.

Available in infant, child, and adult sizes. The Mock Bobbles Beret is crocheted from the crown to the brim, increasing past the circumference of the head and then worked even. Then, you will decrease towards the crown to get a snug fit on your head when wearing it.
