Experimenting with Tunisian crochet cables

Recently, I bought a copy of one of Kim Guzman‘s latest books, Tunisian Cables to Crochet. By coincidence, I later received a review copy (so yes, there is a giveaway in your future, but not for a while!). I’ve vowed to do some crochet experimentation for National Crochet Month, so I decided to look through the other two books I have that provide photo tutorials for Tunisian cables, Crochet Scarves: Fabulous Fashions – Various Techniques by Sharon Silverman and Tunisian Crochet: Cables & Braids by Angela “ARNie” Grabowski.  (You can read my interview with Kim Guzman here and my interview with Sharon Silverman, along with a review of Crochet Scarves, here.)

Interestingly, each of these books has a pretty different approach to Tunisian cables.  I’m eager to see which one works best for me – like many others, I have suffered from flat and depressing looking Tunisian cables in the past. Now that I know how to knit, I have much higher expectations for cables!

Do you have a preferred technique for Tunisian crochet cables?
