Back in June, I went to The National NeedleArts Association’s summer trade show and I had the chance to meet Dena and hang out in the Kreinik booth.

After the show, I got some great threads from Kreinik, and I’ve been waiting for the chance to use them. Kreinik Twist is a beautiful carry-along metallic thread that adds something shimmering and special to your project.
I was working on this hat while I was in New Orleans for my sister’s wedding a few weeks ago. We had a floral emergency before the ceremony started. The main flower buds on the floral wrislets worn by me, the mother of the groom, and the grandmother of the groom separated. You know I always have some project with me (even at a wedding), so I was able to use the Kreinik Twist and a yarn needle to discretely sew the flower buds back onto the wristlets and save the day. I love it when a yarn is multi-purpose!
This hat is similar to two of my other free crochet patterns: the Simple Spiral Beanie, available in 8 sizes and made with medium weight yarn, and the Under the Bridge Hat, available in 6 sizes and made with super bulky weight yarn.

Shimmering Frost Beanie

Crocheting in the back loop of half double crochet stitches mimics the look of the stockinette stitch in knitting. Holding a jumbo yarn with a metallic thread in a different color creates a gentle shimmer on the surface of this hat.

OMG I love working Kreinik tread in with my crochet. I have used their High-Visabliltiy reflective thread to make hats and arm bands for runners. I love that they are a small family company that is local to me (WV). Thank you so much for featuring them!
That’s great to hear, Jessica! Their threads are stunning.
