Crochet Pattern: Berry Cobbler Ripple Blanket

Striped, textured crochet ripple blanket slung over armchair with pillow. | Free crochet pattern: Berry Cobbler Ripple Blanket in Cascade 220 Superwash Effects and 220 Superwash yarns by Underground CrafterI’ve been crocheting baby blankets left and right for colleagues at work, and I’m really excited about how this one turned out! The Berry Cobbler Ripple Blanket is a textured ripple blanket with stripes. It makes a beautiful heirloom-quality blanket to gift at a baby shower or to a newborn.

When I started my current job last January, I was put in an office that was recently vacated by someone who retired. The office was quite large, so pretty soon they moved in another professor, BG, to share it with me. During the summer, they decided to move me to a permanent office on the floor with the rest of my department, and BG was moved into a different office, too. He is such a nice guy and a great office mate, so when I found out his wife was pregnant, I knew I’d have to make them a baby blanket.

Anyway, I was struggling with ideas for the blanket for BG until I met his wife at the office holiday party. It turns out that she loves purple as much (more??!!) than me. I reached out to Cascade Yarns and they sent me Cascade 220 Superwash Effects yarn in Grapes. It’s a delightful semi-solid yarn and it coordinated really well with the Cascade 220 Superwash yarn in Banana Cream that I already had at home.

But, I wanted a stitch pattern that was a little more special than a basic ripple. I found this textured ripple with the hanging cluster in a stitch dictionary and I love how it turned out.
