My newest cousin was recently born and I wanted to make something handmade to commemorate the baby’s first Thanksgiving. Everything is better with glitter, so I used Cricut Glitter Iron-On to make this onesie extra special! This project is part of Craft Lightning: Glitter with 30 Minute Crafts, The Country Chic Cottage, and Pineapple Paper Co., so it can also be made in 15 minutes or less using the customizable Cricut cut file that I’ve included.

I love to participate in Craft Lightning from time to time because let’s face it, sometimes I want to make a handmade gift but I don’t have the time to crochet a blanket, knit a hat, or sew a bag. Two of my favorite Craft Lightning gift projects are the Pancake Breakfast for Two Jar Mix with Vinyl Decorated Milk Bottle (great for couples)…
…and the How To Make a Handmade Yarn with Knitting Needles Tutorial (great for knitters).
I knew I wanted to join in with 30 Minute Crafts, The Country Chic Cottage, and Pineapple Paper Co. for Craft Lightning: Glitter, but I don’t “do” glitter. The whole sprinkling and gluing thing isn’t me and with cats, it’s just plain dangerous. That’s why I’m using Glitter Iron-On — for a neater, faster way to glitter! My Craft Lightning: Glitter project is a quick gift for a newborn (or even an older infant) who hasn’t yet experienced Thanksgiving, and it’s easy to customize, too.
Baby’s First Thanksgiving “Turkey Day” Onesie
Cricut Tutorial and Cut File by Underground Crafter
The Baby’s First Thanksgiving Turkey Day Onesie can be made with any type of Heat-Transfer Vinyl, Iron-On, or Infusible Ink. I used Cricut Glitter Iron-On for my version. If using another heat transfer material, please follow the manufacturer’s instructions for applying that material correctly.

- Sized for a 0-3 month onesie.
Tools
- Cricut Maker or Explore with Cricut Design Space.
- Cricut EasyPress 2 with EasyPress Mat.
- Cricut Fine Point Blade with StandardGrip Mat.
- Cricut Weeder.

- Baby’s First Thanksgiving/Turkey Day cut file in Design Space.

Instructions
Cut Your Materials
- Open the Baby’s First Thanksgiving/Turkey Day cut file in Design Space.
- To change the name, click on “Customize.” When the project is opened, click on the image and choose “Actions” from the menu. Click “Detach” and then double click on the name to change it. If you’d like to use multiple colors, click on the different images/text to change colors. Don’t attach and continue on to cutting.
- If you’d like to use one color as I did, after changing the name click on each item (Name’s first, the turkey, and day) until there is one box outlining them all. Then choose “Actions” and click “Attach.” Continue on to cutting.
- Place your Iron-On with the liner side down on the mat.
- Mirror the image and then follow the instructions for cutting.
Weed Your Iron-On
- With your Cricut Weeder, weed the excess material from your Iron-On.
Transfer Your Iron-On
- Use the Cricut Heat Guide to identify the correct temperature and time for your heat-transfer material and base. When your EasyPress 2 reaches temperature, preheat the bodysuit.
- Position your Glitter Iron-On right side up, on your bodysuit until satisfied.
- Press the EasyPress 2 down for the time required and use either a warm or cold peel, depending on the materials you’ve used and what’s indicated by the Cricut Heat Guide.
- Enjoy your completed project!
What an adorable idea!
I love glitter HTV. I could sit and weed it for hours.
