Tropical Leaves C2C Throw
Corner-to-Corner Crochet Pattern by Living The Craft Life
If you love all things tropical, this blanket design is for YOU. Introducing my Tropical Leaves Corner to Corner Throw Blanket! This design features scattered tropical leaves on a lovely throw sized blanket. I made this as a farewell gift for one of my good friends who is being stationed in Japan for a few years. She showed me that this blanket matched her phone case! It is a perfect fit for her home décor, and I’m so excited to give her a piece of my heart to take with her when she leaves.
I always use Caron Simply Soft Yarns to crochet blankets. I love this yarn because the colors do not fade no matter how many times you wash it. There are no dye lots, so you can always grab more for your project if you happen to run out. Also, it is seriously the softest yarn I have ever used, and it STAYS soft after washing! Not many other brands can do this!
To make this blanket, I used the color Pistachio in the Caron Simply Soft line. You could opt to use a medium shade of green like Kelly Green or a darker shade like Dark Sage. Any of these shades of green would look fantastic!
I would definitely consider this design to be advanced. I encourage you to have at least one Corner to Corner blanket under your belt before trying this. This design has a lot of color changes, and you need to be comfortable with lots of bobbins. With patience, you can get it done! This blanket took me almost 3 months to complete; compared to my usual ability of completing a C2C blanket in one month. I know it might seem like a lot of work but I promise the finished product is SOOOO worth it!
To prep your materials, make dozens of smaller bobbins in both white and green when you start. You can start unwinding two skeins of white and two skeins of green, and wind up smaller bobbins. You will need to load medium lengths, of about 15-20 yards, and smaller lengths, about 5-10 yards. The smaller bobbins come in handy when you crochet the palm leaf. This prep work will help if you want to have one piece of yarn for each leaf. If you want to try to carry your yarn more, you’re totally welcome to!

Materials needed to complete the blanket
- Size I Crochet Hook (5.5MM)
- 4 Skeins White (I used Caron’s Simply Soft – White)
- 5 Skeins Green (I used Caron’s Simply Soft – Pistachio, but could also use Kelly Green or Dark Sage)
- Yarn Needle
Gauge
- Gauge not essential for blankets, C2C Crochet a triangle 8 blocks high. If you use Caron Simply Soft, your triangle should measure approximately 5.5” (14 cm) tall, then your project will end up being 43”x 53” (109 cm x 134.5 cm). If you use a different worsted weight yarn, your triangle should measure 6.5” (16.5 cm) tall, then your project will end up being approximately 52” x 64” (132 cm x 162.5 cm).
