Back in January, I went to Phoenix for Creativation, the annual trade show for the craft and hobby industry. One of the best part of this event is walking the show floor and seeing all the displays, like this one at the Yarnspirations booth.

They just happened to be in Ultraviolet and Smoke. How did they know to pack the right colors for me? I’m not sure, but I knew I wanted to make something special with this yarn as soon as I saw it.

Free crochet pattern: Split Screen Pom Pom Scarf in Patons Alpaca Blend yarn by Underground Crafter - Patons Alpaca BlendThroughout the year, I had different ideas but I finally settled on a scarf. Of course, it couldn’t be a plain, ole boring scarf with these beautiful colors though, right? I like to style mine so that I start with the wide part in front, then wrap it around my back and back to the front. That’s how I can show off the color blocking the best. (You can find more tips for styling scarves here.)

All the special stitches have linked video tutorials to guide you through the fiddly parts.

I made mine while streaming episodes of my new favorite classic tv show, Space 1999, with Amazon Prime. (You can get a 30-day free Amazon Prime trial here.) And, yes, I am a sci fi nerd, thank you very much.
