12 Inch Granny Square Crochet Pattern: Berrylicious Square

Free crochet pattern: Berrylicious Square, 12 Inch (30.5 cm) granny square in Lion Brand Crayola Cake yarn by Underground Crafter | Textured crochet square in red semi-solid yarn on white faux brick background

I’m so excited to be joining the 2019 Block a Week with JulieAnny Crochet Along with my 12 inch granny square pattern for the Berrylicious Square. This motif starts with a textured, berrylicious center and it ends with one of my very favorite stitch patterns, the v-stitch. I used a semi-solid, self-patterning yarn and I love how the colors turned out.

Julieanny, also know as Julie Yeager, is one of my favorite crochet blanket and motif designers. I had the pleasure of interviewing her on my blog back in 2014. She hosts an annual blanket crochet along and I’m so excited to be joining in for the first time! If you love 12 inch (30.5 cm) granny square patterns, you’ll love this CAL.

One of my favorite things about being a crochet designer is getting to try out new yarns. If you follow me on Instagram, you may remember this sneak peek of new Lion Brand yarns from my trip to Creativation, the annual craft industry trade show, back in January.

Not too long after I got home, Lion Brand asked if I would like to try some of their new (but at that point, not yet available) Crayola Cake and Crayola Off the Hook yarns. The answer was, of course, yes! If you haven’t seen Crayola Cake yarn yet, these are semi-solid, acrylic yarns in 10 fun colors – just what you’d expect from Crayola. I used the Maximum Red colorway for this square, and I love how it turned out. As always with red, it’s a bit hard to photograph, so you will just have to trust me when I say it’s beautiful!
