When I was looking at the adorable milk bottles that I packed my Mochatastic Brownies Jar Mix in, I had the idea that a little adornment could go a long way. I didn’t want to crochet a regular scarf because shouldn’t my bottles wear infinity scarves like I do?

Itty Bitty Bottle Infinity Scarf, free crochet pattern in Lion Brand Heartland yarn by Underground Crafter | Add a handmade touch to a housewarming or host(ess) gift with this miniature infinity scarf that fits almost any bottle's neck.I had some Lion Brand Heartland left from the Triplet Ripple Baby Blanket, and I was able to whip this up in literally minutes. It makes a great host(ess) gift to pair with a bottle of wine or champagne, or your own milk bottle mix! I like to have at least a touch of handmade to go with my store bought gifts, and this can be finished up on the ride over to the holiday party.

Recipe: Mochatastic Brownies (Jar Mix)

Mochatastic Brownies Jar Mix recipe by Underground Crafter | These yogurt brownies have a deep coffee flavor and you can eat as much raw batter as you'd like! These make the perfect gift for your favorite coffee lover.

I was recently shocked to discover that stores are actually selling holiday jar mixes.

This post contains affiliate links. Bottles for this project were generously provided by Oriental Trading.

I have been a maker and gifter of jar mixes for longer than I can remember. (I even have some good stories about jar mixes being taken out of my luggage for examination in airport security lines.) Though I love to bake for the holidays, sometimes, it isn’t practical due to shipping times or because everyone else is also baking for the holidays! A jar mix ensures that baked goods will be eaten whenever it’s convenient for the recipient (or, when her or his sweet tooth comes a calling).

When I saw these milk bottles at Oriental Trading, I knew I had to come up with a jar mix recipe.

These containers are so adorable that they can be used for all kinds of things after the brownies are baked. Personally, I plan to use mine to store buttons. There is something very inspiring about seeing a button collection from all sides. These milk bottles can also, obviously, be used for drinks and to hold snacks. If you’re looking for more last-minute holiday project inspiration, check out Oriental Trading’s Christmas Crafts page.

These brownies were adapted from the Yogurt Brownies in The Ultimate Brownie Book by Bruce Weinstein. I love that these don’t use eggs or butter because it’s means you can eat as much raw batter as you like the recipient doesn’t have to shop for as many fresh ingredients. I decided to take the mocha route because I have a lot of coffee addicts lovers in my family. If you want a less pronounced coffee flavor, skip the instant coffee but keep the coffee blended yogurt.
