Phoenix Wrap Crochet-a-Long in Lion Brand Jeans by Underground Crafter - Part 2 Side PanelsThis is the second part of the Phoenix Wrap Crochet-a-Long, a free crochet pattern for a rectangular shawl available in 3 parts. This part is for the side panels, which add width to your Phoenix Wrap before the final border. The Phoenix Wrap makes a stunning statement shawl that can be worn in a variety of ways. It’s also suitable for donation to Sue Rock Originals Everyone, Inc., a non-profit organization in New York City that distributes handmade garments and accessories to survivors of domestic violence.

Phoenix Wrap Crochet-a-Long with Underground Crafter, Lion Brand, and Sue Rock Originals Everyone, IncYou can find more information about the Phoenix Wrap Crochet-a-Long here. The Phoenix Wrap is a textured and cozy rectangular shawl in 3 colors of Lion Brand Jeans. The pattern is easy enough enough for a dedicated beginner, but versatile enough to keep a more advanced crocheter interested. The Phoenix Wrap will be released in 3 parts to give you time to work on each section.

Phoenix Wrap Crochet-a-Long by Underground Crafter - end-of-CAL giveaway prizes collageBefore we move on to the pattern for the side panels, I wanted to share a few things.

I had the chance to interview Sue Rock a few weeks ago. You can listen to the interview in your browser below, or you can download the audio file here. Sue is really a remarkable woman and she shares some great stories, so have a listen!

Several crocheters have asked me about the yarn requirements this week. The materials list includes all the yarn and supplies you need for the entire shawl, not just for a specific section. To make that more clear, I have changed the wording to read “Materials for the Entire Project.” I hope this helps!

The first part of the Phoenix Wrap was actually the longest part of the pattern! Now you’ll just be adding on the side panels using a flat shell stitch. This will add to the width of the shawl, but the length will be unchanged.
