Tutorial: Yarn Flower Keychain

Yarn Flower Keychain Tutorial by Underground Crafter #DIY #crafts #yarn

Recently, I’ve been having a lot of fun making yarn flowers with a Flower Loom. This quick and easy project is a great way to use up yarn scraps while making a cute accessory.

This is also a very “kid-friendly” project, though you may want to step in when the flower is being removed from the loom and while the glue is in use (depending on your child’s age).

  • Make a yarn flower with your Flower Loom. (You can find my tutorial, How to Make a Yarn Flower with a Flower Loom, here, along with links to more Flower Loom tutorials) I used CA for the petals and CB for the center. (photo 1)
  • Remove the key ring from the key chain clip. (photo 2-3) Set the key ring aside, because you’ll need it again later!
  • Insert the yarn tails from the back of the yarn flower into the small loop on the key chain clip. (photo 4) Tie a knot with the yarn tails to hold the yarn flower in position on the clip. (photo 5)

  • Use several drops of Fabri-Tac to glue the yarn to the key chain clip. (photo 6) Tip: Keep things neat by working over a surface you can discard after the glue dries, like used newspaper, or a paper or plastic bag.
  • Tie another knot, making sure it covers the fabric glue. (photo 7)
  • Allow the glue to dry.
  • Cut the yarn tails above the knot. (photo 8)
  • Return the key ring to the key chain clip, being careful not to snag the yarn.
  • Enjoy your Yarn Flower Keychain! (photo 9)
