  • NOTE: First V-st in each round is made up of (3 ch, dc) in same sp. I use 2 ch to stand in for the first dc rather than the traditional 3 because it makes for less of a gap; the additional ch is for the ch-sp (for a total of 3 ch).

  • Row 1: Ch 3, working in back bumps, dc in fourth ch from hook, dc in next 3 ch, 2 dc in next ch, [dc in next 5 ch, 2 dc in next ch] 7x, dc in next 5 ch. (61 dc)

  • With right side facing (foundation chain is visible on top), attach Grey Heather in first dc at bottom left corner of front opening.
  • Row 1:
    • Bottom edge: Ch 1, sc in same st, [ch 5, sc between next 2 V-st] across, sc in last dc.
    • Right front edge: [Ch 1, sc] evenly spaced along front edge (shawl should lie flat), [sc, ch 1] in first ch of foundation ch.
    • Neck edge: Sc in front loop only of first ch of foundation ch, [ch 1, sc in front loop of next ch] around neck edge, ch 1, sc again in last st of foundation ch.
    • Left front edge: [Ch 1, sc] evenly spaced along front edge (shawl should lie flat), ch 1, sl st in first sc.
  • Row 2:
    • Bottom edge: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, sc in first ch-5 sp, [ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp, 8 dc in next ch 5 sp, sc in next ch-5 sp] across, 2 dc in last sc of bottom edge, ch 3, sc in corner ch.
