I’m wrapping up (pun intended) my series of new pattern releases today with the Serape Shawl crochet pattern. Updated: This pattern is now available free here.
This jumbo rectangular shawl is perfect for snuggling under on a cold day. It’s crocheted with Valley Yarns Charlemont, a silky smooth blend of merino wool, mulberry silk, and polyamide.
The finished shawl measures 70” (178 cm) long x 13.5” (34.5 cm) wide before blocking, and is made with one skein each in Natural and Burgundy, and two skeins of Purple Passion. As you can guess from the title, the shawl is inspired by Mexican serapes, long blanket-like shawls.
I loved the stitch pattern I crocheted this in – it definitely made the project move quickly, even though it was large.
