This is the nineteenth square in the Anthology Blanket Knit-a-Long. The Diagonal Moss Stripe Square requires a bit of focus but makes a stunning textured pattern.

Diagonal Moss Stripe 6″ (15 cm) Square
Knitting Pattern by Underground Crafter
This stitch creates a stunning textured pattern.
Finished Size
- 6″ (15 cm) square.
Materials
- Cascade 220 Superwash (100% superwash wool), or approximately 41 yds (37.5 m) in any medium weight yarn.
- US Size 7/4.5 mm knitting needles, or any size needed to obtain gauge.
- Yarn needle.
Gauge
- Completed square = 6″ (15 cm) in pattern. Exact gauge is not critical for this project.
Abbreviations Used in This Pattern
- BO – bind off
- CO – cast on
- k – knit
- p – purl
- rep – repeat
- RS – right (front) side
- sl 1 – slip 1 st, knitwise
- st(s) – stitch(es)
- * Rep instructions after asterisk as indicated.
Pattern Note
- Pattern repeat is any multiple of 12 sts. Instructions include 4 st borders.

Border
- Row 1: Knit to last st, p1.
- Row 2: Sl 1, k to last st, p1.
- Rows 3 & 4: Rep Row 2 twice.
Diagonal Moss Stripe Stitch pattern
- Row 1: (RS) Sl 1, k3, *p1, k5, p1, k2, p1, k1, p1; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.
- Row 2: Sl 1, k3, *p1, k1, p3, k2, p4, k1; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.
- Row 3: Sl 1, k3, *p1, k3, p1, k1, p1, k4, p1; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.
- Row 4: Sl 1, k3, *p5, k2, p1, k1, p2, k1; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.
- Row 5: Sl 1, k3, *k2, (p1, k1) twice, p1, k5; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.
- Row 6: Sl 1, k3, *p6, (k1, p1) 3 times; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.
- Row 7: Sl 1, k3, *(p1, k1) twice, p1, k7; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.

- Row 11: Sl 1, k3, *p1, k5, p2, k1, p1, k2; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.
- Row 12: Sl 1, k3, *(p1, k1) 3 times, p6; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.
- Row 13: Sl 1, k3, *k7, (p1, k1) twice, p1; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.
- Row 14: Sl 1, k3, *(p1, k1) twice, p7, k1; rep from * across to last 4 sts, k3, p1.
- Rep Rows 1-14 until square measures approximately 5.5 in (14 cm), ending after any even row.
Border
- Rows 1-4: Rep Border Row 2, 4 times.
- BO in pattern for Border Row 2. Fasten off with long yarn tail (approximately 3 times the width of square).
