It’s that time of year when I’m hoping desperately for spring. I designed the New Dawn Beanie for everyone out there who feels the same way! This snug crochet beanie with flower is made with simple, textured stitches. A self-striping yarn in spring colors does all the colorwork for you. You can choose to add the optional mayapple flower motif for some extra spring! Best of all, it’s a one skein project!

I like the winter because I get to crochet and wear my crochet more than the rest of the year. But, it does get old after a while.
On these cold, bright days, when the trees are bare and the wind is brutal, I think about how beautiful it’s going to be when the spring arrives. That’s why I decided an optional floral applique was in order for this pattern!
The spring colors brighten up my mood, and the self-striping yarn does all the colorwork for me. If you’d prefer a simpler hat, just leave off the applique.
I think you’ll love the textures on this beanie! It’s uses just one skein of yarn, so it’s a great portable pattern or last minute gift.
