Pattern Notes from Underground Crafter

  • This pattern uses US crochet abbreviations. You can find a standard list of abbreviations here.
  • Body, Back Feathers, Wing Feathers, Top Feathers, and Beak are crocheted in the round in unjoined spirals. (Optional: Use a stitch marker in the last stitch of each round to mark position. Move stitch marker up each round.)
  • Feet and Sunglasses are crocheted flat in rows.
  • Pattern pieces worked in the round list the total number of stitches in the round first with directions following in parenthesis.
  • To increase, work 2 sc into same st.
  • To decrease, I recommend the invdec. Planet June has a helpful invdec video tutorial here.
  • Oombawka Design Crochet has helpful tutorials for the magic circle (also called the magic ring) here.
  • Add this pattern to your Ravelry queue or favorites here.

Joining everything

  • First you’ll sew the tail feather.
  • The feet should go like this, placed in the bottom of our bird.
  • Wings should go on the sides of the body, like this. And top feather in the highest part of our Lou Bird.
  • And finally add the beak and sunglasses. And our Rock and Roll animal is done!
