Sonic Waves Cowl Crochet Mini Skeins Pattern

I’m so excited to be joining the 2020 Scarf and Hat of the Month Club with Oombawka Design Crochet and The Stitchin’ Mommy with the first of four crochet patterns that you can make with one pack of mini skeins! Sonic Waves is a crochet mini skein cowl pattern that uses a beautiful, yet simple wave stitch pattern without increases and decreases.

Earlier this year, I decided to try something new to me: WeCrochet Brava yarn in Mini Packs. I love working with color, and what a better way to try out a whole lot of colors than with mini skeins? Each pack includes 24 mini skeins, each in a different color of yarn.

I reached out to WeCrochet knowing that I wanted to use this yarn for my patterns for the 2020 Scarf & Hat of the Month Club with The Stitchin’ Mommy and Oombawka Design Crochet. This is the fifth year that Amy and Rhondda have been hosting the Scarf of the Month Club, and this year they added a few twists. Click on the link to either of their sites to get all 36 free patterns!

Obviously, there’s the hat part (yay, because who doesn’t like a matching set) and also they had each guest designer participate for two consecutive months. Since that meant I would be designing four patterns (two hats and two scarves), I decided the mini skeins would be just perfect because using one pack you can make all four patterns!

  • This cowl is crocheted flat in rows and then joined with a mattress stitch seam. The borders are crocheted in the round starting with a single crochet around the edge.
  • A helpful tutorial for joining pieces with the mattress stitch is available here.
