One-Skein Crochet Shawl Pattern: Piraguas Shawl

Today I’m sharing a one-skein crochet shawl pattern as part of the 2022 Summer Vibes Blog Hop and Pattern Bundle. The Piraguas Shawl is a light and airy shawl made with just one skein of self-striping, cotton-blend sock yarn. This pattern is beginner-friendly (or “I’m watching streaming”-friendly).

I’m excited to be joining Susanna from Fosbas Designs again for her Summer Vibes Blog Hop and Crochet Pattern Bundle. (I also joined in during 2020 with the Scrub-a-Doodle-Do Washcloth pattern.)

There are two ways you can participate in the Summer Vibes Blog Hop and Crochet Pattern Bundle this year:

  • Visit this roundup on Fosbas Designs daily through July, 2022 for the coupon code to download that day’s pattern PDF. Each coupon code is available through the following day at 1 pm BST.
  • Buy the Summer Vibes Crochet Pattern Bundle including all 31 patterns from the Blog Hop plus 2 bonus patterns through July 31, 2022. If you buy the Summer Vibes Crochet Pattern Bundle using my link, I’ve included a bonus as a thank you: your choice of any 3 patterns or ebooks from my Ravelry shop.

The Piraguas Shawl is my contribution to the Summer Vibes Blog Hop and Crochet Pattern Bundle this year. This is a triangular shawl that can easily be adjusted to your preferred wingspan. For my version, I used Summer 4Ply, a self-striping, cotton-blend sock yarn from King Cole. It has ample yardage in each skein to make it shawl-worthy, too. Summer 4Ply is available from your local yarn shop or online at LoveCrafts. For the Piraguas Shawl, I used one skein in 4575 Tutti Fruity. The cheerful colors reminded me of the Puerto Rican shaved ice treats that were all over New York City in the summer when I was a kid. Until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t seen a piraguas cart in years. When I spotted one recently in Chelsea, I was so happy to see this tradition is still alive.

Scroll down for the Piraguas Shawl pattern. As I mentioned earlier, this pattern is part of the Summer Vibes Blog Hop and Crochet Pattern Bundle. Every day in July, 2022, a summer-themed crochet pattern will be available for free as a PDF download. Visit this post on Fosbas Designs each day through July 31, 2022, and you can get a new coupon code for the ad-free PDF of a summer-themed pattern.
