I’m sharing the twenty-fourth pattern in the 7th Annual Christmas in July Make Along: a crochet snowman coaster pattern that is super cute and easy to make! I’ve included instructions for three versions: a single thickness version (as shown in the photos), a double thickness version, and a felt backed version. From the 3 skeins of yarn listed for the pattern, you can get 6-7 coasters in the single thickness and felt backed versions or 3-4 coasters of the double thickness version.

Coasters are quick and easy gifts for friends, family, and hosts, but they also make great decorations for your own home. Scroll down for the free crochet snowman coaster for Icy the Snowman Coaster.

Icy the Snowman is big enough to fit below a nice big mug of hot cocoa, so just one makes a great gift bundled with hot cocoa mix (and, maybe a nice mug, too!). It’s also a cute crochet snowman coaster for “the kids table” at your holiday dinner–or, even for the big kids/grownfolks table!–so you can also make a whole set.

Assembly and Finishing
Join Head to Hat
- Position Head on top of Hat so that the right (front) side of the Head is facing the back (wrong) side of the Hat and so that approximately half of the Head is behind the Hat as shown in the photo below.

- Thread yarn needle with long tails in CB from Hat. Weave the tails into the Hat until you reach the Brim of the Hat. Seam the Head to the Hat using sewing or the whipstitch (see Pattern Notes) around the top of the circle. Sew the brim of the Hat to the circle. When finished, weave in yarn tails on wrong side of Head and Hat.

- Turn to right (front) side.

Embellish Face
- Position Carrot Nose on right side of Head with thicker side close to the center. Thread yarn needle with long yarn tails in CC from end of Carrot Nose. With yarn needle, attach Nose to Body using sewing or whipstitch (see Pattern Notes). With yarn needle, weave in yarn tails on wrong side. Cut strand of CB measuring approximately 18” (46 cm) long. Thread yarn needle with CB. With yarn needle, embroider Eyes (see Pattern Notes) above Nose. Continue by embroidering Mouth using backstitch (see Pattern Notes). Finish by tying knots on wrong side or weaving yarn tail into back of Hat.

- If you made the single thickness version, you are now finished!
- For the double thickness which covers the back, join the second Head and Hat together as described above. Position so that wrong sides of face together with the right sides out. Cut one strand each of CA and CB, each measuring approximately 18” (46 cm) long. Thread the yarn needle with the strand in CB and seam the sections of the Hat together using the whipstitch. Continue seaming the Head sections together using the strand of CA and the yarn needle. Weave in yarn tails on inside.
- See Pattern Notes for instructions for felt backed version.
