Gift to Myself Easy Crochet Triangle Shawl Pattern

I’m sharing the first pattern in the 3rd Annual Gift to Myself Crochet Along: an easy crochet triangle shawl. The Gift to Myself Triangle Shawl uses a textured stitch combination that looks great on both sides, so you end up with two looks and you’ll never have to worry about putting it on “the wrong side.”

After the holiday crafting chaos, I love making myself something new. For the past few years, it has usually been a shawl that I can wear indoors, but this winter has already been quite cold, so I decided to design something that is equal parts cozy and decorative this year!

I love that the texture looks great on both sides, making this easy crochet triangle shawl warm, beautiful, and functional.

The Gift to Myself Triangle Shawl is also easy to customize. It’s crocheted from side-to-side, increasing to the midpoint and then decreasing to the end, so you can easily customize how long the wingspan of your version is. If you use Lion Brand Mandala Bonus Bundle like I did, this is a one-skein wonder with just two yarn tails to weave in! (You can use two standard skeins of Lion Brand Mandala instead with just a few more yarn tails.)

Gift to Myself Triangle Shawl

Easy Crochet Triangle Shawl Pattern by Underground Crafter

Updated 1/11/2026

This easy crochet triangle shawl works from side to side, increasing to the midpoint and then decreasing to the end. The textured stitch combination is reversible so you’ll get two different looks from the same shawl. This is the first pattern in the third annual Gift to Myself Crochet Along.

Finished Size

  • Teen/Adult: 60.5″ (153.5 cm) wingspan x 26.25″ (66.5 cm) spine.

Materials

  • Lion Brand Mandala Bonus Bundle yarn (100% acrylic, 10.5 oz/300 g/1181 yd/1080 m) – 1 skein in 212S Spirit, or approximately 1181 yd (1080 m) in a light weight, self-striping yarn.
  • US Size I-9/5.5 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • Stitch marker or scrap yarn.
  • Yarn needle

Gauge

  • Exact gauge is not critical for this pattern. Choose a hook 1-3 sizes larger than you would typically use for a light weight yarn to get relaxed drape.

Pattern Notes

  • This shawl would benefit from blocking after finishing to enhance drape. If you’re new to blocking, Blocking Basics for Crocheters and Knitters includes helpful explanations and video tutorials.
  • A helpful video tutorial demonstrating how to crochet around your project is available below.
