I love crocheting hats, though I don’t wear many (I have very limp hair which easily converts to “hat head,” and I tend to overheat when my head is covered). Hats make great gifts and there are also many organizations that accept crochet hat donations. When KnitPal sent me this skein of Mohair Mimic, I knew it would make a great hat, so I stared thinking of design ideas.

When I started thinking about International Crochet Month, I remembered the Mohair Mimic and I decided to design a basic crochet beanie pattern.

I used basic stitches (like single and double crochet) to make the project easy and meditative, but I added in a few extras (like working in the back loop and adding puff stitches) to keep things interesting.

The result is a beanie that works up pretty quickly and is available in 10 sizes from newborn through adult large so you can make your version for yourself, to gift, to donate, or to sell.
