Crochet Pattern: Circle and Popcorn Granny Square

Circle with Popcorn Granny Square free crochet pattern by Underground CrafterIt’s no secret that I love crocheting granny squares! I make granny squares for “mindless” crochet at night with the tv on, or for making gifts, or for charity projects.

This post contains affiliate links. The yarn for the samples was generously provided by Lion Brand.

But I do like to mix things up a bit. (Don’t worry if you prefer the “traditional” granny square. Just check out my Mod 9-Patch Blanket, a free blanket pattern using the classic granny, instead!)

Version B in Lion Brand Heartland in 109 Olympic (CA) and 105 Glacier Bay (CB).

Today’s free crochet pattern adds a little spice to your granny square by including some shape changes (from a circle to a square) and some texture (with popcorn stitches).

I made two versions. Version A (at left) is great for adding a variety of colors or using up yarn scraps. Version B (at right) is easy to add to a planned blanket with just a few colors.

I’ve rated this pattern as intermediate because it uses popcorns, but most adventurous beginners can make it!

Thanks for stopping by, Wendy. The advertising on my blog is what allows me to offer free crochet patterns, which is why I don’t have free PDFs available. I am going back through my older patterns and updating them to include a link to an ad-free PDF for sale. You should be able to choose the pages you want to print through your browser so you don’t waste paper printing comments.
