I hope you’re having fun with the Holiday Stashdown Crochet-a-Long 2015! (If you’re just hearing about it today, there’s still plenty of time to join in. You can find more details about the CAL here.) I’ll be shining a spotlight on each of our generous giveaway sponsors over the coming weeks.
Today’s featured sponsor is KSC Designs. Dani Miller is the maker and owner of KSC Designs, and she is one of the end-of-CAL giveaway sponsors. I’m sharing an interview Dani today where she’ll share more details on the giveaway prize. Show your support by following KSC Designs on Etsy | Instagram. Sponsor Spotlight: KSC Designs
Interview with Dani Miller
Dani: I learned how to sew when I was about 11, starting in grade school home ec. I learned the basics there, but everything after that is self taught! My Dad always says that I am channeling his Mom, who was an avid sewer.
Dani: I started KSC Designs as a result of many folks asking for knitting needle cases at the local yarn store I was working at. I figured if they were asking, there must be a need for well laid out cases! I started the shop in Feb. 2011, and went full time with it shortly thereafter. It was a big leap to think about doing it full time, but I am so glad that I did. In addition to the knitting needle cases I have expanded my line into crochet cases, project bags, tote bags, makeup organization and a ton of custom work.
UC: You also crochet, knit, and love photographyl. Do you have a favorite “go-to” craft or does it depend on your mood or time of year?
Dani: I love SO many different crafts! I knit, crochet, sew, quilt, do temari and sashiko, weave, cross stitch, embroider, and most recently, do leatherwork. I bop around between all of the different crafts depending on my mood. And often I am working on projects that are to be gifts, so if there is a deadline you will find me working on that. Lately though my favourite has definitely been the leatherwork. Keep your eyes peeled, good things to come from that I hope!
Dani: My favourite crafting book – that is a hard choice! Probably Harris Tweed: From Land to Street by Lara Platman. It is a beautiful book and it makes me want to go visit the Scottish weavers in their crofts every time I look at it!
UC: Do you have any crafty websites you visit regularly for community or inspiration?
Dani: Like many folks, I have a few different blogs that I love to read for laughs and inspiration (The Yarn Harlot, Ysolda, etc.) but I am also a big lover of Pinterest for inspiration. I have to make sure that I don’t spend too much time pinning and actually spend some time doing though!
I am so happy that KSC Designs could be a sponsor for your Holiday Stashdown CAL! The winner is going to receive one of my handmade crochet rolls so that he or she can get all of their hooks organized and safely kept in one place! Also, all of the CAL participants can use the coupon code crochet in the shop to receive 10% off their purchase!
