Free crochet pattern: Little Gracie Baby Blanket in Cascade 220 Superwash by Underground Crafter | This simple stitch pattern creates a classic, heirloom quality blanket. Or add stripes for a more vibrant look. It’s no secret that I love to make baby blankets as gifts. I made this easy baby blanket using a simple stitch pattern so I could work on it during my commute and while watching a tv (but still get it finished in time). The stitch pattern creates a classic look, so when you make it in a solid, neutral color, like I did, you end up with an heirloom-quality blanket. Or, add stripes or use a multicolor yarn for a more vibrant look!

This blanket is named after Grace, the baby would I gifted it to. I did not know too much about the nursery (or even the decor in her parents’ home), so I chose a neutral, pale yellow color.

I wanted to make the blanket a little fancier than the block, so I added a border inspired by Edie Eckman’s Around the Corner Crochet Borders.

You can choose a neutral, like I did, for a classic, heirloom look. Or, make a bright and bold blanket with stripes in contrasting colors. Or, try a multicolor yarn and be surprised by the final result! Really, the options are endless.

Since I’ve shared the stitch count, you can also adjust the pattern to make a larger or smaller blanket (though you will may need more or less yarn).
