Circle in a Square Crochet Motif: Bumpy Ride Square

Are you looking for a circle in a square crochet motif pattern that you can make without changing colors? The Bumpy Ride Square is designed for crocheting with a single skein of color changing yarn so you have fewer ends to weave in. The pattern includes 6″ and 12″ variations.

I know that one reason a lot of crocheters don’t like granny squares is because of all the color changes. I’ve been loving Lion Brand Crayola Cake yarn ever since I first saw it at the craft and hobby industry trade show last January.

The Berrylicious Square was the first granny square pattern I designed with Crayola Cake yarn and I got the idea to make different square in every color.

The Bumpy Ride Square is the next in this series. So why did I call it the Bumpy Ride Square? Well, to make this circle in a square motif pattern, I started with a textured, spoked center. It kind of reminded me of a bicycle wheel. And once I added in the bobbles… well, bumpy ride just came to me!
