Crochet Food Pattern: Giant Blueberry Snow Cone

Today I’m sharing the first of three giant crochet food patterns designed for Fairfield World, the company behind Poly-Fil fiber filling. Each of these crochet food patterns has a seasonal theme. The Giant Blueberry Snow Cone is a sugar-free, no-calorie, summer treat that makes a huggable buddy or a cute pillow.

This project is sponsored by Fairfield World, but all opinions and thoughts are my own. Additional materials for this project were generously provided by Clover and Lion Brand.

When Fairfield asked me to design three different giant crochet food patterns, I had the hardest time coming up for the idea for my summer project. I needed to find something red, white, and blue to fit with their Independence Day color palette. After a little thinking, I came up with this idea, inspired by those packaged snow cones that used to be sold in the ice cream trucks when I was a kid.

Growing up in New York City, I have to confess that I never actually ate those packaged snow cones. I much preferred the piraguas sold by street vendors. Not only did they have more flavors but they tasted better because the syrup was freshly added. A good backup with an Italian ice from a local pizzeria.

The Giant Blueberry Snow Cone is crocheted in two pieces using Lion Brand Color Made Easy, a soft, multi-plied bulky yarn available in 22 beautiful, on-trend colorways. After crocheting, the pieces are stuffed (and, full disclosure, you will need the ENTIRE 32 ounce bag of Fairfield Poly-Fil Premium Fiber Fill). You will finish off the project by seaming the “snow” to the “cone,” adding more fiber filling as you go to make sure it is firmly stuffed.
