Mélange Blanket Square 13: Daydream Square

Our thirteenth square pattern is the Daydream Square by HanJan Crochet. You can find Hannah online at EtsyFacebook | Instagram | LoveCrafts | Ravelry | YouTube

Hannah’s version of the Daydream Square is made with three colors.

For my version, I used King Cole Big Value Aran, which is available through your local yarn shop or online at LoveCrafts or Wool Warehouse UK, and my Denise US Size J-10/6 mm crochet hook. Using the same hook and yarn throughout this project helps me keep consistent gauge across all my squares. I used Nougat as Color A, Ocean as Color B, and Berry as Color C and followed Hannah’s pattern through Round 6. When joining with a slip stitch, I joined into the back loop only so that the first stitch would already be set up for Round 7. After Round 7, I found that my square was just under 5″ (13 cm), so I worked Round 8 with half double crochets (instead of single crochet) to give some extra height, bringing my square to exactly 6″ (15 cm). I found that spray blocking was sufficient to get the square to flatten out. (If you’re new to blocking, check out Blocking Basics for Crocheters and Knitters.)
