Crochet Pattern: V-Stitch Mug Hug

Today, I’m sharing a simple pattern using the popular v-stitch pattern. The V-Stitch Mug Hug is the third in a series of stitch sampler mug hugs sized to fit a plastic reusable coffee cup. I’ve also included instructions on how to resize it for a standard paper coffee cup.

This post contains affiliate links. I may receive compensation (at no added cost to you) if you make a purchase using these links. Yarn for the sample was generously provided by Lion Brand.

I shared some free patterns on Instagram to grow my audience there back in 2018. These quickly got lost in the feed and became hard to find. Some folks also found those patterns hard to read in app. Now, I’m slowly working on bringing those patterns to the Underground Crafter blog, including the V-Stitch Mug Hug. These are great gifts for the coffee lovers on your handmade holiday list, and if you’d like to pair it with a reusable cup, I’ve included links to buy those.

The v-stitch is one of my favorite stitch patterns, but if you’re new to it, I’ve included a video tutorial. You can crochet these mug hugs pretty quickly, and make 3-4 mug hugs with each skein of Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton yarn. Most folks love coffee, or tea, or hot chocolate, so these are also great “gift closet” gifts, to keep “in stock” at home for co-workers, neighbors, and teachers, too. (I’ve also been known to stuff the cups with chocolate kisses or candies before gifting.)

This post is part of the Countdown to Christmas I’m sharing with folks signed up for the Crochet Along updates and the Underground Crafter newsletter.
