I’m sharing a review of a crochet subscription box today. We all love getting yarn-y gifts in the mail, but is a subscription box right for you? Read on for details and my review!

Hooks & Needles provided me with a free review copy of their crochet subscription box. Although I accept free products for review, I do not accept additional compensation, nor do I guarantee a positive review. My reviews are based entirely on my honest opinions.
Hooks & Needles offers monthly crochet and knitting subscription boxes, monthly crochet amigurumi subscription boxes, yarn, and more in their shop, including crochet hooks and knitting needles, and notions. A few months ago, the folks at Hooks & Needles sent me the crochet subscription box to review. While you’re waiting for your box to arrive, you get an email with several digital freebies to download, including four patterns (for the Honeycomb Stitch Cardigan, Petite Purse, Two-Tone Bag, and Vintage Headband) with different skill levels, a Crochet Journal with instructions for printing and assembling, a Yarn Inventory Tracker, and the How To Read Crochet Patterns: From 0 to Hero ebook by Knitting with Chopsticks (which usually retails for $20).

The subscription box arrived just a few days later, which was great. It came in a cute box that I could reuse. The box came with quite a few goodies inside and it felt full.

The first thing I looked at was the booklet, Your Cozy Corner for Crocheting Information. It was printed in color on nice quality paper. Inside there is an explanation of what is included in the box and the value of each item. The total box value is listed at $77.92.

The booklet also included a letter from Alex, the founder; tips for reading patterns; an introduction to the included yarn and the three patterns in the booklet; and a note sharing that the three skeins of Woodland Whisper yarn included would not be enough to make all three patterns and you should pick your favorite. There was a headband, a lovey, and a basket pattern, so the box also included some fiber filling to stuff the lovey.

If you prefer digital patterns, each included a QR code you could use to access the digital version. The patterns include helpful progress photos. There was also a recipe for cinnamon cookies. Other goodies in the box include an ergonomic crochet hook, a set of tapestry needles with a sweet little case, and yarn snips.

I liked that the box was not just yarn with one pattern, which is how a lot of crochet subscription boxes operate, and that they included different types of patterns — varying skill levels and project types — to suit the preferences of diverse crocheters. The additional notions were super cute and are things all crocheters need (and regularly lose or misplace, if they are like me). The yarn was soft and I love the little flecks of color in it.

If you love getting yarn-y stuff in the mail (and who doesn’t, really?), or if you’re looking for a nice gift for your crochet-loving pals, I would recommend the crochet subscription box from Hooks & Needles. Your first box arrives within a few days and thereafter, you’ll get a shipment on the 7th on the month. Each box includes two to four skeins of European yarn, patterns and tips for beginner to advanced crocheters, and extra goodies such as the cute notions shown above. Right now, you can save 20% off your first box with coupon code FIRSTBOX20. You can cancel at any time. Not sure if a subscription box is right for you? You can also shop for patterns, yarn, notions, and more at Hooks & Needles.
