I’m sharing the seventeenth pattern in the 4th Annual International Crochet Month Blog Hop: a skinny scarf pattern. Not everyone lives in a cold environment, and skinny scarves are great ways to accessorize indoors or out in any weather. The Fabulous Color-Blocked Skinny Scarf pattern works up fast using just one stitch and an extra-large hook. It’s a perfect beginner or “mindless” crochet project. It’s length and soft drape allow for a variety of styling options to fit your mood or outfit. This pattern is forever free on my blog, but the PDF version is available for free download with coupon code through 11:59pm Eastern on March 18, 2026 as part of the Blog Hop.

Sometimes, the simplest crochet projects are the best. With all the stressors out in the world, many of us turn to crochet for relaxation. This skinny scarf pattern is the perfect project for relaxing and getting into the flow. You’re using a much larger hook than you typically would for this yarn weight, so the stitches are big and almost lacy. (Also, it works up really fast!)

The loose stitches, combined with the long length and narrow width of the scarf…

…make a wonderful, soft drape that allows you to style the scarf in a variety of ways. Here are just a few options.

The color blocking adds a bit of drama and visual interest, too. If you’re in the mood for charity crocheting, this skinny scarf pattern would be great for donating to Handmade Especially for You, an organization that provides comfort scarves to women in domestic violence shelters. I have other patterns for Handmade Especially for You donations, including the Especially Leslye Scarf, the Celeste Skinny Scarf, and the Glittery Accent Scarf. You can also find tips for donating in the Ultimate Guide for Crocheting for Charity for Beginners.
