Crochet Pattern: Bobble Berry Washcloth

Free crochet pattern: Bobble Berry Washcloth by Underground Crafter | CAL Central 2018 Washcloth Crocht AlongI’m kicking off CAL Central’s 2018 Washcloth Crochet Along with the Bobble Berry Washcloth, a free crochet pattern for a textured washcloth in the granny square style. This washcloth uses post stitches and bobbles to create a gentle, exfoliating texture. If you’re new to bobble and post stitches, I’ve included video tutorials after the pattern to walk you through these special stitches. This post is also part of Granny Square Month, my 30-day celebration of all things granny square.

When I first got the skein of Cascade Ultra Pima Paints in the mail, I knew that I was going to need some lavender soap as a photo prop.

Free crochet pattern: Bobble Berry Washcloth by Underground Crafter | CAL Central 2018 Washcloth Crocht AlongLavender by the Bay is a local, family owned and operated lavender farm that sells some amazing lavender scented goodness at my neighborhood Farmers Market every Sunday. I’m always looking for a reason that I need to have some lavender, and taking pictures seemed like a perfect reason. (If you love lavender, too, and also sew, you may like my Upcycled Denim Lavender Sachets tutorial.)

I actually tried a few different variations before settling on the stitch pattern for this washcloth. I really wanted something that had some texture, but I also wanted something that wasn’t too busy because the yarn has a lot going on and I didn’t want to over-complicate things.

Free crochet pattern: Bobble Berry Washcloth by Underground Crafter | CAL Central 2018 Washcloth Crocht AlongI decided to start with a wheel using front post double crochet stitches as the spokes. Then, I added in bobbles around the edges of the circle. Once I squared the circle, the bobbles were just added at the corners.

I love using face scrubbies in the summer to help remove the sweaty gunk that builds up on your face when you live through a New York City summer day!
