Free crochet pattern: Shimmering Frost Beanie in Bernat Mega Bulky and Kreinik Twist by Underground Crafter | Crocheting in the back loop of half double crochet stitches mimics the look of the stockinette stitch in knitting. Holding a jumbo yarn with a metallic thread in a different color creates a gentle shimmer on the surface of this hat. This pattern is part of the 2016 Holiday Blog Hop.Back in June, I went to The National NeedleArts Association’s summer trade show and I had the chance to meet Dena and hang out in the Kreinik booth.

This post contains affiliate links. Yarn for the sample was generously provided by Consumer Crafts and Kreinik.

After the show, I got some great threads from Kreinik, and I’ve been waiting for the chance to use them. Kreinik Twist is a beautiful carry-along metallic thread that adds something shimmering and special to your project.

This pattern is part of the 2016 Holiday Blog Hop.I was working on this hat while I was in New Orleans for my sister’s wedding a few weeks ago. We had a floral emergency before the ceremony started. The main flower buds on the floral wrislets worn by me, the mother of the groom, and the grandmother of the groom separated. You know I always have some project with me (even at a wedding), so I was able to use the Kreinik Twist and a yarn needle to discretely sew the flower buds back onto the wristlets and save the day. I love it when a yarn is multi-purpose!
