Friday is Wear Red Day. Every year, the American Heart Association‘s Go Red for Women, “a national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women,” promotes this day as a way of spreading awareness of heart disease in women “because it’s not just a man’s disease.” In fact, in the U.S., heart disease is the cause of 1 out of 3 women’s deaths, and for the past 30 years, more women than men have died of heart disease.
The good news is that “women who are involved with the Go Red For Women movement live healthier lives.” Let’s beat the statistics while crocheting ourselves some beautiful wearables! In support of Wear Red Day, I’m sharing several roundups of crochet patterns for women’s wearables. Previously, I shared 10 free crochet patterns for boot cuffs and fingerless gloves, 10 free patterns for headwear, 10 patterns for shawls, shrugs, and ponchos, and 10 patterns for neckwear.

And, two bonus patterns!
While I was finding incredible examples of crochet patterns in red, I came along two that didn’t fit neatly into the categories of the rest of the patterns. I thought I’d share these as bonus patterns with this roundup!
Tamara Kelly of Moogly has a free slipper pattern, Simple Chunky Cable Crochet Slippers. This quick pattern is available in two sizes and two widths, and includes a photo tutorial. Perhaps you’ll be lounging in these tomorrow night after getting home from a long day of wearing red high heels :).

And, for the other ladies of the house, Sara Sach from Posh Pooch Designs has an adorable Red Ruffle Dog Sweater Dress for sale on Ravelry. If you need a mascot for Wear Red Day, this looks like a great outfit option.
