Announcing the Layers of Texture Infinity Scarf Crochet-a-Long!

Layers of Texture Infinity Scarf Crochet-a-Long with Underground Crafter and Crochet Guild of America (CGOA) - July 18 - August 29, 2016There’s something about summer heat that makes me want to host a crochet-a-long. It seems like we all need a little extra motivation to crochet in the warm weather, so why not do it with online friends?

This post contains affiliate links. Yarn for the sample was generously provided by Lion Brand.

I’m really exited about this CAL because I’m co-hosting it with the Crochet Guild of America (CGOA). I’ve been a member for the better part of a decade (maybe longer, but who’s counting?) and I’m also a volunteer blogger at CGOA Now!, the Guild’s blog. It’s a great organization, and if you aren’t already a member, you can join here. There are a lot of reasons to join, but my favorites are the subscription to Crochet! magazine, the discounts at national retailers, and the comraderie. (If you’re interested in earning money from your crochet, or already do, there are even some special benefits for professional members.)

I’ve been holding onto this pattern for a while, waiting for just the right time to share it! Let me tell you about more about it and the crochet-a-long.

Explore intermeshing crochet (also known as interlocking crochet or double filet crochet) by making this reversible sampler infinity cowl. The pattern includes 6 different stitch patterns.

Intermeshing crochet seems hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be happy you tried it! You need only basic crochet skills since intermeshing crochet uses just chains and double crochet stitches. This unisex project is a great way to get a head start on your own fall accessories or holiday gift-making, or to make something special to donate to charity.

If you can’t wait to learn more about intermeshing crochet, check out this roundup of free beginner tutorials, or these posts highlighting the beauty of intermeshing crochet.

You can get a complete supply list at the end of this post.

  1. Sounds like fun. Can’t wait & hope I can stay with this since I aways having something going on & I appreciate all your time & help. Lisa

  2. I was looking for something to make as a Christmas present for a friend’s husband…this looks perfect! Now to find some “manly” colors of yarn….

  3. How can I simply get the pattern? I’ve been on Ravelry several years and have gotten several patterns, but I’ve never been one to do a CAL … too much other things in life get in my way? I’m 72 and one grandmother taught me to crochet when I was about 7 years old, including how to read patterns.

  4. What a great interim project between the Tour de Fleece and then the Ravellenic Games! I have not tried this particular crochet technique so I’m really looking forward to it!

  5. Sounds like it would be fun to learn, it seems I have a hard time finishing what I start. Here is to hoping that this is going to be the article/item that gets my cromo on the go again!

  6. Please, can you tell me the weight of the yarn needed? I can buy by the weight, not by yardage. 200, 399 grams, approx.? Thank you
