There’s something about summer heat that makes me want to host a crochet-a-long. It seems like we all need a little extra motivation to crochet in the warm weather, so why not do it with online friends?
This post contains affiliate links. Yarn for the sample was generously provided by Lion Brand.
I’m really exited about this CAL because I’m co-hosting it with the Crochet Guild of America (CGOA). I’ve been a member for the better part of a decade (maybe longer, but who’s counting?) and I’m also a volunteer blogger at CGOA Now!, the Guild’s blog. It’s a great organization, and if you aren’t already a member, you can join here. There are a lot of reasons to join, but my favorites are the subscription to Crochet! magazine, the discounts at national retailers, and the comraderie. (If you’re interested in earning money from your crochet, or already do, there are even some special benefits for professional members.)
I’ve been holding onto this pattern for a while, waiting for just the right time to share it! Let me tell you about more about it and the crochet-a-long.
About the Layers of Texture Infinity Scarf
Explore intermeshing crochet (also known as interlocking crochet or double filet crochet) by making this reversible sampler infinity cowl. The pattern includes 6 different stitch patterns.
Intermeshing crochet seems hard at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be happy you tried it! You need only basic crochet skills since intermeshing crochet uses just chains and double crochet stitches. This unisex project is a great way to get a head start on your own fall accessories or holiday gift-making, or to make something special to donate to charity.
If you can’t wait to learn more about intermeshing crochet, check out this roundup of free beginner tutorials, or these posts highlighting the beauty of intermeshing crochet.
You can get a complete supply list at the end of this post.

Welcome, Lisa!
I was looking for something to make as a Christmas present for a friend’s husband…this looks perfect! Now to find some “manly” colors of yarn….
Sheila
Great idea, Sheila!
How can I simply get the pattern? I’ve been on Ravelry several years and have gotten several patterns, but I’ve never been one to do a CAL … too much other things in life get in my way? I’m 72 and one grandmother taught me to crochet when I was about 7 years old, including how to read patterns.
Netagene, thanks for writing. The pattern will be released in 6 parts. This post will be updated as each part “goes live.” You don’t need to participate in the CAL to get the pattern.
Looking forward to starting a warm weather project with you next week! Thank you for the CAL ?
-Loretta
What a great interim project between the Tour de Fleece and then the Ravellenic Games! I have not tried this particular crochet technique so I’m really looking forward to it!
Sounds like it would be fun to learn, it seems I have a hard time finishing what I start. Here is to hoping that this is going to be the article/item that gets my cromo on the go again!
I am trilled to begin this project. I have been crocheting since I was about 10 years.
Please, can you tell me the weight of the yarn needed? I can buy by the weight, not by yardage. 200, 399 grams, approx.? Thank you
Maria, thanks for writing. Buying yarn by yardage is actually more accurate since different yarns vary in how much they weigh because of fiber content, dye, and other factors. Alternatively, you can buy the same weight of the skeins listed in the pattern.
Which is the weight of the skeins listed in the pattern, please, it only says the yardage. I have no chance to buy by yardage in my country, Uruguay. Thank you.
Maria, the weight is listed in both grams and ounces in the materials section after the name of the yarn I used.
