International Crochet Month is a celebration of everything crochet, so for the International Crochet Month Blog Hop, I asked each participating blogger to create a pattern represents something the designer loves about crochet – a favorite stitch, a technique, a project type, and so on. The Night in the City Scarf represents two of my favorite things about crocheting – relaxing and getting to play with beautiful yarns!

For my version of the Night in the City Scarf, I used KC Collection Naturally Soft 4Ply yarn. This lovely wool and cashmere yarn is super soft and so fun to crochet with. You can find KC Collection Naturally Soft 4Ply yarn at your local yarn shop or online at Wool Warehouse UK. For your version, choose three yarns that are similar in tone (I used 6020 Granite, 6021 Platinum, and 6029 Winter White – two grays and white), one yarn that is a contrast color (I used 6024 Teal) to get a similar color impact as my version.

When I’m working with an especially lovely yarn, I prefer to use simple, meditative stitch patterns. This lets me really feel the yarn, but also the stitch pattern won’t “compete” with the yarn for attention. The Night in the City Scarf is an easy crochet scarf pattern, but it still has a dramatic look because of the ways I combined the colors.

Holding two strands of yarn together throughout the pattern allowed me to crochet much faster than typical using a super fine weight (#1/fingering) yarn, and it makes the yarn look “tweedy.”

Scroll down for the Night in the City Scarf pattern. This is the first pattern in the International Crochet Month Blog Hop! Join us for 31 days of free crochet patterns by your favorite designers.
