Mélange Blanket Square 27: Calm Square

Our twenty-sixth square pattern is the Calm Square by Pam’s Cozy Corner. You can find Pamela online at Etsy | Facebook | Instagram | Pinterest | Ravelry
You can see Pamela’s version in three colors below.

I used King Cole Big Value Aran (available through your local yarn shop or online at LoveCrafts or Wool Warehouse UK) for my square, along with my Denise US Size J-10/6 mm crochet hook, to keep my tension and gauge similar across squares by different designers.
For my version, I used Berry as Color A, Ocean as Color B, and Nougat as Color C. I followed the instructions through Round 7. At this point, my square was already close to 5.5″ (14 cm), so I knew I would not have room for two additional rounds. I changed to Color A at the end of Round 7, and then skipped to a modified version of Round 9 where I worked 19 single crochets evenly across each side, and then (single crochet, chain 2, single crochet) into each corner (thus finishing with the same stitch count as Round 9 in the pattern). My square was then exactly 6″ (15 cm) and I spray blocked it to shape. (If you’re new to blocking, check out Blocking Basics for Crocheters and Knitters.)
