Crochet Pattern by Underground Crafter

Emilia is the sixth floral granny square in the Welcoming Blanket, a mystery crochet along for a 40″ x 40″ throw blanket made up of nine 12” floral granny square patterns with borders. The Emilia pattern has an 8-petal flower at the center which is inspired by the petals of the Flower Garden Square X by Margaret Hubert.
Finished Size
- 12” (30.5 cm) square.
Materials for the Welcoming Blanket
- Caron One Pound (available at Mary Maxim | Amazon) yarn (100% acrylic, 16 oz/454 g/812 yd/742 m) – 1 skein each in 02005 Sun Yellow (CA), 10517 Rose (CB), and 10620 Grass Green (CC), or approximately 812 yd/742 m in each of 3 medium weight yarns.
- The Emilia Floral Granny Square uses approximately 60 yd (55 m) in CA, 40 yd (36.5 m) in CB, and 70 yd (64 m) in CC in any medium weight yarn.
- Clover Amour (available at WeCrochet | Amazon) US Size J-10/6 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
- Yarn needle.

- Motif = 12” (30.5 cm) square. Exact gauge is not critical for this project.

- CB – Color B
- CC – Color C
- ch – chain
- dc – double crochet
- dc2tog – double crochet 2 stitches together (decrease) – Yo, insert hook in next st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops] twice, yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook. A helpful photo tutorial for this stitch is available here.

- Ch 1 at start and sl st at end of Rounds DO NOT count as stitches.

Motif
- With CA, ch 4, skip first 3 ch, join with sl st to next ch to form ring.
- Rnd 1: Ch 1, 16 dc in ring, join with sl st to first dc. (16 sts)
- Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 dc in same st and in each st around, join with sl st to first dc, fasten off CA. (32 sts)
- Rnd 3: Join CB with slstFL to any st on Rnd 2, ch 1, starting in same st [scFL in next st, ch 3, dc2togFL in next 2 sts, ch 3, slstFL in next st] 8 times, join with sl st to first sc. (8 petals/24 sts + 8 ch-3 sp)
- Rnd 4: Ch 1, *4 sc in next ch-3 sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc2tog, 4 sc in next ch-3 sp, skip sl st,** skip sc; around; rep from * around, ending last rep at **, sl st to first sc, fasten off CB. (8 petals/80 sts + 8 ch-3 sp)
- Rnd 5: Join CC with slstBL to any st on Rnd 2, working behind petals, ch 1, starting in same st [2 dcBL in next st, dcBL in next 7 sts] 4 times, join with sl st to first dc. (36 sts)
- Rnd 6: Ch 1, starting in same st [2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts] around, join with sl st to first dc. (48 sts)
- Rnd 7: Ch 1, 2 dc in same st, *dc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 5 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next st,** (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next st; rep from * around, ending last rep at **, 2 dc in first st, ch 1, join with sc (counts as second ch in ch-2 sp) to first dc. (15 sts/side + 4 ch-2 sp)
- Rnd 8: Ch 1, 2 dc in same sp, *dc in next 15 sts,** (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * around, ending last rep at **, 2 dc in first sp, ch 2, join with sl st first dc, fasten off CC. (19 sts/side + 4 ch-2 sp)
- Rnd 9: Join CB with sl st to any corner ch-2 sp, ch 1, 2 dc in same ch-2 sp, *dc in next 19 sts,** (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp; rep from * around, ending last rep at **, 2 dc in first sp, ch 2, join with sl st to first dc, fasten off CB. (23 sts/side + 4 ch-2 sp)

- With yarn needle, weave in yarn tails on Wrong Side of square.
