Scroll down for the free Gift to Myself Vibrant Crochet Crescent Shawl pattern. One of the things I love to crochet for myself is a good shawl. I tend to overheat easily, so rather than wearing a bulky sweater which will leave me sweating, I wear lighter long sleeves in winter and a shawl to keep my neck and upper body warm.

I’ve mentioned before that I love the ease of crescent shawls. (If you do, too, check out my free patterns for the Moon Goddess Crescent Shawl and the Gift to Myself Crescent Shawlette.)

Crescent shawls look very similar to triangle shawls but are much easier to tie.

This particular crochet crescent shawl is large enough wrap generously around many different body types, and you can easily make it larger or smaller by adjusting the repeats of Row 3.

Wear it with, or without, a shawl pin.

Or, tie it around the back to cover your neck completely like a scarf when it’s cold out. That’s how I usually wear a crochet crescent shawl under my coat. I may or may not adjust once I arrive at my destination, depending on the look I’m going for!
