Bobble V-Stitch Beret and Cowl

Crochet Patterns by Underground Crafter

This beret crochet pattern uses a textured, bobble variation of the popular v-stitch. Pair it with the matching Bobble V-Stitch Cowl!

Finished Sizes

  • Beret: Teen/Adult Small. 20.5” (52 cm) hat circumference x 8.5” (21.5 cm) height. Photographed sample is shown on a mannequin with 22.5” (57 cm) head circumference.
  • Cowl: One Size (fits most children, teens, and adults): 24” (61 cm) circumference x 7” (18 cm) height.

Materials

  • Berroco Remix Light yarn (available online at Jimmy Beans | LoveCrafts | WeCrochet) (30% nylon/27% cotton/24% acrylic/10% silk/9% linen, 3.5 oz/100 g, 432 yd/400 m) – 2 skeins each in 6927 Old Jeans (CA), 6919 Mist (CB), and 6951 Ice (CC), or approximately 575 yd (526 m) in each of 3 colors in any light weight, acrylic blend yarn.
  • KnitPro Waves 2.0 (available online at LoveCrafts | Amazon) US Size I-9/5.5 mm crochet hook, or any size needed to obtain correct gauge.
  • Yarn needle.

Gauge

  • Through Rnd 4 in Beret pattern = 4.5” (11.5 cm) diameter. For best fit, always check your gauge.
  • 4 bv-st in pattern for Cowl= 4” (10 cm) across. Exact gauge is not critical for this pattern.

Abbreviations Used in This Pattern

  • bob – 4-repeat bobble stitch – [Yo, insert hook in st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops] 4 times in same st, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook. A helpful video tutorial for this stitch is available below.

  • bv-st – bobble v-stitch – (Bob, ch 1, bob) in same st or sp.
  • CA – Color A
  • CB – Color B
  • CC – Color C
  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • Rnd(s) – Round(s)
  • RS – right (front) side
  • sc – single crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sp – space
  • st(s) – stitch(es)
  • WS – wrong (back) side
  • yo – yarn over
  • * Repeat instructions after asterisk as indicated.
  • () Work stitches between parentheses into same stitch or space.
  • [] – Repeat instructions between brackets as indicated.
