As the temperatures drop and the summer starts to fade, shawls start making an appearance in my wardrobe. Today’s crochet crescent shawl pattern is the Fall into Fall Shawl. It combines eyelets and puff stitches for the perfect mix of breathability and texture for a transitional weather staple!

I’ve mentioned before that I love crescent shawls. Of all the shawl shapes, I find them easiest to tie without a shawl pin and most versatile for styling. I designed this particular crochet crescent shawl pattern to be very long for full wrap around coverage.

Even though Herrschners Worsted 8 Baby Stripes yarn is meant to be for making baby projects, I found the vibrant colors evocative of the fall foliage and the generous yardage perfect for making a shawl.

Crochet Crescent Shawl Pattern by Underground Crafter
This crochet crescent shawl pattern combines eyelets and puff stitches for breathability and texture, making it perfect for transitional weather.
Finished Size
- Teen/Adult: 29.5” (75 cm) spine x 58” (147.5 cm) wingspan before blocking, 33.5″ (85 cm) spine x 62″ (157.5 cm) wingspan after wet blocking (see Pattern Notes).
Materials
- Herrschners Worsted 8 Baby Stripes yarn (100% acrylic, 8 oz/226 g/489 yd/448 m) – 2 skeins in Serene Citrus, or approximately 978 yd (896 m) in any medium weight, self-striping yarn.
- Clover Amour US Size J-10/6 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
- (Optional: See Pattern Notes.) Clover Amour US Size K-10.5/6.5 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
- Yarn needle.
- (Optional) Clover Quick Locking Stitch Marker.
Gauge
- Exact gauge is not critical for this project. Stitches should have a nice drape, made with a larger hook or looser tension than you would typically use/do with the same weight yarn.

Pattern Notes
- Ch 1 at start of Rows does not count as a stitch.
- There are many ways to crochet into chain spaces. In this pattern, I use the first method shown in the video below.
- If you can’t see the chain space video above, watch it on YouTube.
- If your gauge seems tighter for Rows 13-15 than Rows 3-12/16-17, consider using a larger hook for those rows. Alternately, if your gauge seems looser for Rows 13-15 than Rows 3-12/16-17, consider using a smaller hook for those rows.
- At end of Row 41, shawl should measure approximately 55″ (140 cm) across wingspan. For a larger shawl, rep Rows 27-41 again.

Finishing
- Fasten off.
