8″ Crochet Granny Square Pattern by Underground Crafter


The Felicita Square is the twenty-seventh of 30 free crochet patterns for 8″ square in the 2026 Granny Square Month Crochet Along with Underground Crafter. This 8” square starts with a textured burst and incorporates classic granny stitches.
Finished Size
- Motif: 8” (20.5 cm) square.
Materials
- Herrschners Worsted 8 Wildflowers yarn (100% acrylic, 8 oz/226 g, 489 yd/448 m) – 1 skein each in Dandelion (CA), Bluet (CB), and Wildflowers (CC), or approximately 30 yd (27.5 m) in CA, 35 yd (32 m) in CB, and 15 yd (14 m) in CC in any medium weight yarn.
- KnitPro Waves 2.0 (available online at LoveCrafts | Amazon) US Size I-9/5.5 mm crochet hook, or any size needed to obtain correct gauge.
- Yarn needle.
Gauge
- Finished Square = 8” (20.5 cm) square in pattern. Exact gauge is not critical for this pattern.
Abbreviations Used in This Pattern
- bob – 4-repeat bobble – [Yo, insert hook in st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops] 4 times in same st, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook. A helpful video tutorial for this stitch is available below.

Pattern Notes
- Ch 1 at start and sl st at end of Rounds DO NOT count as stitches.

Pattern Instruction
Square
- With CA, ch 6, skip 5 ch, join with sl st to next ch to form ring.
- Rnd 1: (WS) Ch 1, 16 sc in ring, join with sl st to first sc. (16 sts)
- Rnd 2: (WS) Ch 1, starting in same st *bob in next st, ch 1, skip 1 st, bob in next st, skip 1 st,** ch 3; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **, ch 1, join with hdc (counts as last 2 ch in ch-3 sp) to first bob. (2 bob + ch-1 sp/side + 4 ch-3 sp)
- Rnd 3: (WS) Ch 1, bob in same ch-3 sp, *ch 2, skip bob, bob in ch-1 sp, ch 2, skip bob,** (bob, ch 3, bob) in ch-3 sp; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **, bob in first ch-3 sp, ch 3, join with sl st to first bob, fasten off CA. (3 bob + 2 ch-1 sp/side + 4 ch-3 sp)
- Rnd 4: Join CB on RS with sl st to any ch-3 sp, ch 1, 3 dc in same ch-3 sp, *[ch 1, skip bob, 3 dc in ch-2 sp] twice, ch 1, skip bob,** (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch-3 sp; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **, 3 dc in ch-3 sp, ch 1, join with sc (counts as second ch in ch-2 sp) to first dc. (12 dc + 3 ch-1 sp/side + 4 ch-2 sp)
- Rnd 5: (RS) Ch 1, 3 dc in same ch-2 sp, *[ch 1, skip 3 sts, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp] across to corner ch-2 sp,** (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **, 3 dc in first ch-2 sp, join with sc (counts as second ch in ch-2 sp) to top of first dc. (15 dc + 4 ch-1 sp/side + 4 ch-2 sp)
- Rnd 6: Repeat Rund 5 once, fasten off CB. (18 dc + 5 ch-1 sp/side + 4 ch-2 sp)
- Rnd 7: Join CC on RS with sl st to any ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, *[sc in next 3 sts, sc in next ch-1 sp] across to last 3 sts before corner ch-2 sp, sc in next 3 sts,** (sc, ch 2, sc) in ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **, sc in ch-2 sp, ch 2, join with sl st to first sc. (25 sts/side + 4 ch-2 sp)
- Rnd 8: (RS) Ch 1, *[sc in next st, ch 1, skip 1 st] across to last st on side, sc in next st,** (sc, ch 2, sc) in next ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **, sc in first ch-2 sp, ch 2, join with sl st to first sc, fasten off CC. (27 sts/side + 4 ch-2 sp)
- Rnd 9: Join CA on RS with sl st to any ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same ch-2 sp, *sc in next 2 sts, [hdc in skipped st on Rnd 7, sc in next st] across to last st on side, sc in next st,** (sc, ch 2, sc) in next ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, ending last repeat at **, sc in first ch-2 sp, ch 2, join with sl st to first sc, fasten off CA. (29 sts/side + 4 ch-2 sp)
Finishing
- With yarn needle, weave in ends on wrong side of square.
- Spray or wet block (see Pattern Notes) if necessary.
