Crochet Pattern: Granny Chevron Wrap

Free crochet pattern: Granny Chevron Wrap in Lion Brand Heartland by Underground Crafter - worn outstretchedIt’s no secret that I love using asymmetry in my designs. I’m sharing the free crochet pattern for the Granny Chevron Wrap, a rippled rectangular wrap that features stripes and color blocking to make a dramatic statement. This post is part of my 30-day celebration of Granny Square Month.

I wanted to design a pattern for Granny Square Month that could be worked in one piece (to satisfy those many crocheters who like the look of the granny stitch but aren’t fans of seaming). If you also aren’t a fan of weaving in ends, feel free to make your version in one color.

Free crochet pattern: Granny Chevron Wrap in Lion Brand Heartland by Underground Crafter - back close upI like the way this wrap has two sides (two personalities?) to it. There’s the light and cheerful striped side, and there’s the dark and subtle solid side.

I originally started this project with the yarn I had left over from the Hummingbird Hat and Baby Bird Blanket Knit-a-Long, but then I decided to go out and buy some more Lion Brand Heartland yarn in Glacier Bay, one of my favorite colorways. I’ve actually used it in several previous designs. (Click on the images to get the free crochet patterns.)
